This year’s relief carving project is going to be Dylan’s new Seaside Village design featuring a distant town perched on a hill that juts out into the sea.  The scene is framed on one side by a cliff top fort in the near ground, which could also be carved as a lighthouse.  While carving this design you’ll learn about perspective, compression of depth; layering and textures.  Roughout is 8.5″ by 14″ by 2″

The human figure carving project will feature a 1/6th scale bust, probably 8-9″ tall in total.  Dylan hopes to have a couple different roughouts available featuring a European Royalty/chess set theme.   Focus of the class will be on learning how to carve a face and hands with realistic anatomy, while also addressing carving wrinkles and folds in clothing.
