Carving Competition Rules

The competition is open to anyone who has paid the $50 G.O.W. Registration fee and $6 per carving entry fee. Mail-in entries will not be accepted. Group and scene carvings must be securely attached to a base. All carvings must be wood (no resin, bronze, stone, reproductions, or appliques). Any finish may be used. Rough-out and instructor assisted carvings do not qualify for Best of Show awards. Intarsia, turning or other types of “wood-working” will not be deemed “carvings” and will not be allowed to enter this competition. Our goal is to keep the competition simple. Future shows may expand on this list. We are glad to hear your suggestions.

The number and value of prizes will depend on the number of paid entries and will be determined by the G.O.W. Awards Committee.  Competition Judges will decide winners based on 1. Representation of the Show’s Theme: “Fall on the Farm”, 2: Composition, 3: Quality of Execution.   Winners will be announced on Saturday, October 11th, at the awards luncheon. The decision of the judges is final.

These rules are made a part of the official G.O.W. Competition Entry by reference. By signing and submitting the entry form participants agree to abide by all rules pertaining thereto.  For an entry form, click below:
